چکیده

Medicinal herb Bauhinia variegata L. is the main ingredient in “Gandmala Kandan Ras” herbomineral medicine used Ayurveda for treatment of swelling, inflammation and tumors. This study aimed to isolate anti-inflammatory compounds from methanolic extract aerial parts variegata. Through bioassay-guided isolation, three known flavonoids, namely kaempferol, ombuin quercetin were identified variega. The primary screening by protein denaturation method revealed a significant percentage inhibition kaempferol quercetin. assays against COX-1/2 enzymes showed activity these two compounds, compared standard drug, indomethacin. Of which, as potent non-selective inhibitor COX1 COX2 with minimal inhibitory concentration values 172.05±4.29 220.62±9.13 nM, respectively; while selective IC50 154.86±5.60 nM. results provided evidence that supports Ayurvedic usage Gandmala Ras formulation inflammation, which was attributed natural active indicated plant could be considered an excellent source remedial inflammation.

Bioassay-guided isolation and identification of antifungal compounds from ginger.

A bioassay-guided isolation of antifungal compounds from an African land race of ginger, Zingiber officinale Roscoe, led to the identification of [6], [8] and [10]-gingerols and [6]-gingerdiol as the main antifungal principles. The compounds were active against 13 human pathogens at concentrations of <1 mg/mL. The gingerol content of the African land race was at least 3 x higher than that of ty...
